About National Golf Resort
National Golf Resort sits near Klaipėda on Lithuania’s Baltic coast. It’s the most atmospheric of the country’s golf courses, coastal exposure, real wind, and a layout that has hosted European Tour qualifying events. For buddy groups who want one round that feels properly elemental, this is the one.
The 4-star hotel attached to the resort makes the logistics easy. Most groups that include National Golf Resort stay on site for two nights, play the course back-to-back, and use the second day to explore the Curonian Spit, which is 30 minutes away and one of Lithuania’s two UNESCO sites.
Getting there
- From Palanga airport (PLQ): about 30 minutes by car. Direct flights from Copenhagen, Hamburg, Riga.
- From Vilnius: about 3.5 hours by car, or 4 hours by train. For groups starting in Vilnius, I arrange private transfer including clubs.
- From Kaunas airport (KUN): about 3 hours
What to expect
- Layout: 18-hole championship course with coastal feel
- Difficulty: Demanding when the wind is up (which is most of the time). Strong layout for any handicap willing to play conservative when needed.
- Conditioning: Good throughout the season; the coastal location helps drainage
- On-site: 4-star hotel, restaurant, spa, pro shop
How it fits into a Lithuania trip
The standard format is to play the Vilnius-area courses for 2–3 nights and then transfer to Klaipėda for the National Golf Resort portion of the trip. Shorter trips sometimes do the whole thing from Palanga airport instead of Vilnius, flying into PLQ saves the long transfer.
If you want National Golf Resort included, fill in the trip brief and mention it. I’ll structure the itinerary around it.
