A Lithuania golf trip from Finland, in one paragraph

Helsinki to Vilnius is one hour in the air. Lithuania’s golf season runs a month longer than Finland’s at each end of the year. Green fees are roughly half what you pay at home, and the courses are well-conditioned, uncrowded, and not yet on most Finnish golf clubs’ radar. I run these trips personally, and a meaningful share of my Finnish bookings come from groups who’d been doing the same Estonian or Latvian rotation and wanted something properly different.

Why Finnish buddy groups make this trip

Finland has one of Northern Europe’s strongest golf cultures, more than 140 18-hole courses, ~150,000 active players, and a deep buddy-trip tradition. After enough years of the same kotikenttä rotation, “somewhere we haven’t been” becomes a real selling point. Lithuania is the most consistent answer for groups whose criteria look like:

  • Season length: Lithuania plays from late April to mid-October. That’s 4–6 extra weeks of golf compared to most Finnish courses, at both ends of the year. May and September trips are the sweet spot.
  • Cost: green fees of €60–€80 are about half of what you pay at home; total trip cost (3 nights, 2 rounds, hotel, transfers) lands around €750–€900 per person plus a €150 flight.
  • Originality: courses your Helsinki or Tampere golf-club friends almost certainly haven’t played
  • Logistics: one-hour direct flight from Helsinki, simple EU travel, prices in euro, no language barrier issues

What the trip looks like

Most Finnish groups settle on one of these formats:

3-night weekend (Thursday–Sunday): two rounds in the Vilnius area, Old Town hotel, one organised evening. Around €600–€900 per person not including flights. The first-time trip.

4–5 night extended: three rounds, often with a Klaipėda coastal extension to play National Golf Resort on the Baltic. Around €900–€1,400 per person. Common second-visit format.

See Lithuania Golf Weekend for the weekend version’s detailed itinerary.

Common questions

Frequently asked about this trip.

How long is the flight from Finland to Lithuania?
Helsinki to Vilnius is about 1 hour direct on Finnair or airBaltic. Tampere connects via Helsinki or Riga. From Turku you'll usually route through Helsinki. The whole travel day from Helsinki to your Vilnius hotel is around 4 hours door to door.
Why pick Lithuania over playing golf in Finland?
Three reasons most Finnish groups give: a season that's a month longer than Finland's (Lithuania plays well into September while Finnish courses are closing), green fees and total trip costs at roughly half Finnish levels, and somewhere new, your kotikenttä rotation gets old after enough years. The flight is shorter than driving from Helsinki to Rovaniemi.
What does a Lithuania golf trip from Finland typically cost?
€600–€900 per person for a 3-night trip with two rounds, or €900–€1,400 per person for a 4–5 night trip with three rounds. Helsinki–Vilnius return flights are typically €120–€220. Total trip cost lands well under what a Finnish group would pay for an equivalent domestic outing.
Can we play Lithuania in early or late season when Finland is closed?
Yes, that's one of the strongest reasons Finnish groups come. Lithuania's courses are typically open from late April / early May through to mid-October, which gives you 4–6 extra weeks at each end of the year compared to most Finnish courses. May and September trips are also the cheapest of the year.
Is the food and culture side of the trip worth doing for Finns?
Yes, Vilnius Old Town has a real café and craft beer scene that Finnish groups consistently rate higher than they expected. Baltic food shares roots with Finnish food (rye, dill, smoked things, root vegetables) but the restaurants will surprise you. I always build at least one organised evening into Finnish trips.
